Choosing a Test Type
Understand when to use Pinion Polls, Pinion Ask, and Pinion Videos, and follow the usual Video-to-Poll sequence to find and fix listing problems.
Choosing a Test Type
ProductPinion offers three test types. Each one answers a different kind of question. Pick the one that matches where you are in your listing work.
| Test type | Use it when | You get back |
|---|---|---|
| Pinion Poll | You have two or more finished options and need to know which wins | A vote split, a written reason per shopper, and a confidence figure |
| Pinion Ask | You need more than a preference, such as pricing, comprehension, or first impressions | Structured survey answers across up to ten question types |
| Pinion Video | You don't know what's wrong yet | Screen recordings of shoppers talking through your listing |
The usual sequence is Video then Poll. Run a Video when conversion is disappointing and you can't say why; shoppers will name the objection out loud. Then run Polls to fix the specific thing they named.
Reach for Ask when the answer isn't a preference at all, such as what someone would pay, whether they understood what the product does, or what they recall after three seconds.
Start with the test type that matches your situation, not the one that sounds cheapest. A Poll run before a Video often tells you nothing, because you're testing variations of something you haven't diagnosed yet.
