Competitor Research Test

Watch shoppers browse your Amazon search results on video, transcribe the exact language they use about your category, and convert what you hear into your next test.

Competitor Research Test

Share an Amazon search result page of your main keyword. Understand your market by seeing which competitors get attention and why.

The question this answers

Understand which products people like and why

What shoppers are asked

Shoppers see your options and are asked to pick one and explain why:

You'll be looking at Amazon search results. You need to discuss which products stand out the most to you and why.

They then answer these out loud on camera:

  1. Which products on the search result page would you most likely click into? Why?
  2. Click into your top 3 listings. For each, what did you like, what could be improved? (To go back, right click and select "back")
  3. If you had to choose, which product would you actually buy? Why?

How to set it up

This section is a stub. Write the step-by-step setup, what a good variation looks like, and how to read the result, then change status: seed to status: published in the front matter.

How to read the result

Don't count votes - transcribe language. The output of a video test is vocabulary. Write down the exact phrases shoppers use about your category and you'll have better keywords and better image copy than any tool will give you.

Watch where attention goes before they speak. The cursor moves before the explanation does. Note which listing they hover, which they scroll past without pausing, and how long they spend before deciding - the hesitation is data the transcript misses.

Listen for what they skip entirely. If nobody reads bullets, that tells you where not to invest. If everyone zooms an image, that tells you where to.

Five responses is usually enough to see the pattern. Watch them before buying more.

What to do next

Convert what you heard into a measurable test:

Then run an Objection Test on your own listing to hear the other half of the story.
