Shorter Title Test

As recommended by Amazon, create a title that's under 100 characters and see how it performs against your current title.

The question this answers

Does a shorter title perform better?

What shoppers are asked

Shoppers see your options and are asked to pick one and explain why:

Pretend you're shopping on Amazon and see the following titles. Which one do you prefer? Why?

How to set it up

This section is a stub. Write the step-by-step setup, what a good variation looks like, and how to read the result, then change status: seed to status: published in the front matter.

How to read the result

Wins are about readability, and they're usually decisive. Shoppers say the short title was easier to read or that the long one looked like spam. Amazon's own guidance points the same way, so a win here is low-risk to act on.

Losses are the interesting case, because they name the missing information. "It didn't say what size", "I couldn't tell if it fits mine", each of those identifies exactly one term you cut that was doing real work. Put those back and leave the rest out.

Judge it on a phone. Most of your traffic truncates the title long before the end. If your test showed full titles, the real-world gap is wider than what you measured.
